I was listening to the podcast “The Single Millennial” on Spotify when I felt like jotting down some of the stuffs I have in my heart.
I have neglected myself and the small things that made me happy because the world and environment I am currently at right now feels so tight and full of negativity. To start this month – I vowed to myself that even if life throws a bunch of rocks, I will stay optimistic and staying my head high and trying to find happiness in small things.
The things I changed to feel light and see happiness really made a big impact on my daily life. Some of the things that helped me find happiness are:
Talking to God (Devotional)
It has been almost two weeks since I started reading and reflecting on a specific bible reading plan I have. And every morning I try to spend my 5-10 minutes before going to work to read some daily bible inspirational verses and reflection. It helped me and how I start my day. Yes, there are rocks along the way but with God’s grace also listening to Christian music helps my soul feel calm.
Having a Journal
One of the things I changed was my bullet journal. This change focus on taking time to value self-care and self-love. Along with writing reflections from the bible reading plan, I also tried to jot down some small wins, acts and tasks that I encounter. It is those small things that helps me find peace.
Also one way to keep myself happy is by writing. I am trying to write everything that makes me happy and thoughts that I feel like writing. It’s one of the small joys I used to do and feel back in college and since we moved in the US. I’m just grateful that I’m slowly getting back to the old hobbies I used to love.
Listening to a Podcast
I am that type of person who do not enjoy Podcasts. But there is one Podcast that I truly enjoy and look forward to and that is – “The Single Millennial” on Spotify. It is also the reason why this post was written. I can see myself through her topics and can relate to them.
It has been my joy and I’ve been in love with photographs since I was in college. I never pursue it professionally but I definitely would love to. There is something soothing and calming when I take photographs. Maybe that is what I loved about it in the first place. Photographs really do make me happy.
Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn’t know you left open— John Barrymore
As the saying goes, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, there is no room to be upset and not be happy. Seek happiness in small things you have in life.
